Sam Hensley: Music
Love the Lord
(Sam Hensley)
Sam Hensley
Surely the quickest written song on the record, I am frequently invited to play music at St. Columba's Episcopal Church in DC during their Great Hall service, which is a service for families with young children. All the music for the service is very age appropriate, and is printed in the bulletin. So when I asked the music leader if she wanted me to play something in the bulletin, she asked me to play something I had written, something that the kids could clap to, and maybe a call-and-response song. Knowing I had not anything like this, I began writing this song three minutes before the service started. I finished the last line of the song as I was walking up to lead the song with the congregation. Talk about good timing. Like "I am a creation," this song could theoretically go on forever, so make up your own words. What should you love?
Love the Lord
With all your heart
And you will do
Do your part
Love your friends...
Love the earth...
